We have a packed weekend, with the father daughter dance Friday night (they all look forward to this so much)!!! Then Lilly has her second gymnastic’s meet this weekend in Hickory, so we’ll be doing that on Saturday! But I can assure you, we’ll work some extra fun around her competition, especially since Joshua lived in Hickory during his high school years! We’ll probably visit Dante’s Pizza (where he worked) and grab lunch there before the meet.
{Fun fact: Joshua ordered me a heart-shaped pizza from there for Valentine’s Day 2003, and I totally thought he was proposing with pizza LOL!}
We may have to drive the minis by his old school, and have him tell us stories about his glory days as a basketball and track star (he really was)!!! The minis and I will have to figure out some fun for Sunday, since Joshua will be working, but we may just call it a chill day 😉 As promised, here’s a list off things that look fun, going on this weekend in the QC, that you may just find me at…!
February 24th-February 26th
- CRIV & Durrett Designs…If you haven’t heard, Lotus is now CRIV, and the store has been totally redone! If you haven’t checked out the new space, the perfect time is Saturday from 1-4pm because Durrett Designs will also be there with her art! You can shop fashion, art, and have some mimosas at the same time! I have my eye on a certain painting for sure…you can probably guess which one 😉

- Charlotte Checkers game…You have two chances to check out our home hockey team this weekend! Friday night, they play at 7:15pm, and Saturday, they play at 6pm, with both games against the Cleveland Monsters! Tickets for balcony seating are as low as $12, and group ticket pricing is available!

- CIAA…The basketball tournament will be going on this weekend, which not only means basketball games at the Spectrum Center, but also a HUGE fan fest Thursday-Saturday at the Convention Center, and lots of performers around town, all weekend long. With that said, there will be A LOT more people uptown this weekend, therefore restaurant wait times will be longer, more traffic will be in the streets, and longer lines to get in to clubs, etc. Just keep your patience in mind with servers, bartenders, uber drivers, etc.!

- McDowell Nature Preserve…Do you watch the show Naked and Afraid? If so, have you always wondered how to build a sturdy shelter?! My answers are yes and yes! Well, we can learn how to do so this Saturday from 11am-1pm (not the naked part; the shelter part, in case I’m not making myself clear)! Registration is required, the event is FREE, ages are 6 and up, and it’s encouraged that the whole family participates!

- Blue Blaze Brewery…The West end Chili Cook-off is from 1-4pm for sampling, then there’s voting til 4:30, and the winner will be announced at 5pm! There will be vegan and kid-friendly options, so it’s fun for everyone! You can enter your chili in the competition, or simply show up to sample! Pro tip: take the Stewart Creek Greenway to the brewery, especially if the weather is as gorgeous as it’s been lately!

- Queens University…There are two different chances to see FREE beautiful music at Queens this weekend! The Charlotte Band Concert will be presenting “Celebrations” Saturday at 7pm, and pianist, Enrique Graf, will be playing Sunday 7-9pm. Both concerts will be at Dana Auditorium (1900 Selwyn Ave).

- Southern Spring and Garden Show…Located at the Park Expo and Conference Center (next to Bojangles Coliseum), this show is HUGE, and is celebrating it’s 57th year! If you can’t make it this weekend, you can go next weekend (Mar 3-5), and the theme this year is “America, the Beautiful.”
- Matthews Playhouse…They are performing The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe this weekend, Friday 7:30pm, and then Saturday and Sunday at 2pm. If you love the book, you’ll love this play too! This dramatization of the C.S. Lewis classic, recreates the magic and mystery of Peter, Susan, Edmund, and Lucy’s journey into Narnia. Tickets are $13 adults/$11 for students and seniors.

Let me know what you plan on attending! Did you go to any of the ‘Find me at…’ activities I listed last week? If so, fill me in!
What was my most noteworthy FIND?! We did the Schiele Museum Fossil Fair and it was AWESOME! The museum alone is a gem (pun intended), so you must go sometime, but the fair made it extra special! And I bought a Vicks bottle that was more than 100 years old, that still had some of the original oil in it! SO COOL!!!
